Zimbra Desktop allows you to combine multiple email and social networking accounts into a single interface for online or offline management. The application supports the majority of popular email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmails, POP etc. and social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Contents of your email are downloaded into a local database permitting you to read your emails, reply to messages and run advanced searches among other features.
As a result of Zimbra downloading all your email and storing them locally, you can access your accounts, even if you are offline. Because the email database is local it automatically keeps a local backup of all your online content.
